Through the Eyes of a Soldier |

Genre: Biblical Drama
Synopsis: The arrest, trial, beating, crucifixion, and resurrection of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of one of the Roman soldiers who witnessed all the events.
Description: This film was made for our Resurrection Sunday (Good Friday) service in 2004, just around the time that Mel Gibson's Passion of the Christ was released. Our movie was filmed in four days in various locations around Trinidad, Colorado. We had a very low budget, yet we made our own costumes, built some of our own production gear, and did our own special effects.
Special FX: There were several special effects used throughout the production. This included an angel descending down to the tomb, the stone being rolled away, and Jesus ascending (disappearing). I used a combination of 3D Studio Max and After Effects. Because my compositing skills were just budding, I did much of the masking and compositing in 3D Max where the large stone was rolled away. I even had to paint the microphone boom pole out of several shots as it dipped in and out a few times.
This was the first time in my life I felt like this was what I was supposed to be doing. Since then, film making has become my passion.
