2010 San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival

I'm looking forward to my first film festival... ever. That's right, with all the movie talk and filmmaking adventures, I have never been to a festival.

But that is all about to change.

I arrived earlier this evening in San Antonio, Texas for Vision Forum Ministries' San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival looking forward to the academy held the first few days, then getting to know some fellow filmmakers during the festival at the end of the week.

Building Virtue through Film

Do your films demonstrate Godly virtue? Do you want them to? The incredible effort of film making is wasted if it does not show God's virtues in one way or another.

2 Peter chapter 1 describes the progression of Godly virtue.

Let's start in verse 3:

According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that [pertain] unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue:

The Weight of our Craft

I was reading in 1st Peter chapter four last night and came across a section that spoke to me about our craft of film making. I thought I'd share it with you because we often don't realize just how much impact we as filmmakers have over our audience.

The medium of film is such a powerful tool for controlling the emotions and even the thought processes of those who watch. If we are not putting God into each and every component of our film, what agenda are we pushing?
