Hi! My name is Dave Shaver and I just want to say thanks for visiting the THATfish website and for stopping by my personal page. Keep reading to find out more about me and the skills I can bring to your next film production.
I was born, raised, and currently live in Colorado with my wife Julie and daughter Adra.
We are active in our local church where I am in charge of sound, the church website, video production of sermons, and I fill in when needed for music, sermons, and anything else that needs done. I was even youth pastor for 5 years until we started posting sermon videos on the church website.
I have Bachelor's degrees in both Mathematics and Theology. An interesting mix, for sure, but I find it so fascinating the perceived disagreement between science (which is really the religion of naturalism) and God. God created not only the heavens and the earth but the science that binds it all together. How can we possibly separate the two?
For 15 years I have been a Network Administrator at a rural hospital. With our small staff we wear many hats and are very experienced at doing great things with an extremely small budget. This spills over into my film making, as I do everything I can to make a good product while spending as little as possible.
My ultimate goal is to bring people to the loving grace of Jesus Christ through films.
"Ragged Edge" is a short film devoted to encouraging Christians to help those in need. It is based off of the book "In His Steps" by Charles Sheldon. The movie was written, directed, and produced by Zack Lawrence and shot on location in Norwood, Colorado on October 9-11, 2010.
I was the DP (Director of Photography) for this film, which was nominated for Best Cinematography at the 2011 Gideon Film Festival.

This film was made at the 2010 Rocky Mountain Christian Filmmakers Camp in Norwood, Colorado. Under the instruction of Norton Rodriguez a group of students attend classes on film production and then shoot a movie in a single week.
I was blessed to have my script chosen to be made that week. It was quite exciting and nerve wracking as I then took on a producer role beside Norton to help my vision of the story get made.
Additionally, I did a couple visual effects shots for the film that we were unable to film in-camera during production.
